Our climate Sydney is so perfect for a coastal wedding, a relaxed or elegant setting which is captured within the beauty of the beach. It is becoming more popular and it’s not hard to see why. With our white sandy beaches, tidal rock pools and rocky headlands from Palm Beach to Manly, Bondi to Bundeena. Sydney has so many beautiful beaches for weddings or other formal ceremonies. If you wish to use a beach for your ceremony, it must take place outside the flagged bathing area that is setup on the day and a permit is required from local Council prior to your ceremony.
You may also want to consider the area you have chosen, as other people may be wanting to walk their dog, enjoy a picnic or playing with their children. Also remember your guests will need to access the ceremony with ease, so consider any disabled or elderly guests who may not be able to walk down a stair case. You may not have exclusive use of the beach so a little consideration for others will help to avoid any problems. It is also a good idea to check with the tides to ensure your ceremony is not going to be washed out at high tide
Choosing your beach wedding attire is not as hard as you think, but it does take a little thought and common sense. It is your special day and you can decide how formal or informal you want it to be. It really depends on where it is, any local Council restrictions, budget and your imagination. The time of year and time of day is always an important factor to take into consideration when planning beach wedding clothing. Think about certain fabrics which work better than others. Generally, it is easier to keep it simple but the guests should also be aware of the beach setting so they can be suitably dressed. Whether you choose a very casual sarong or an elegant long bridal dress, you will also need shoes you can either walk on the beach, thongs with some bling or simply barefoot to be comfortable. The groom may want to be in a summer style linen suit or a cool cotton shirt – even a Hawaiian shirt and a flower garland for a bit of fun
Beach decorating ideas can be anywhere from very simple to over the top. The best part of decorating on the beach is you have a blank palette. The beach, the water and the sky create a neutral background which looks great with any colour combination, whether you choose white for simplicity or a more vibrant colourful setting for flowers, chair covers, bridal arch etc. Just because you have a beach wedding doesn’t mean compromising on style either
Typically, a beach setting could have a shell theme with everything from the invitations to the decorations. Even a wonderful old chandelier decorated with shells for an added touch. For a real tropical beach party, you could have tiki torches on bamboo sticks, with a big BBQ for the cooking and frangipanis to add a touch of the tropics. Incorporate additional flowers or even palm fronds for beach wedding decor on the tables. We eat with our eyes so even the menu could be themed to match the special day
